A sixteen-year-old, who cannot be named under UK law, was acquitted of the murder of Christopher Faulkner last week. Mr Faulkner died after being stabbed during a scuffle in King George’s Playing Field, Stevenage in April this year.
The youth pleaded not guilty to murder but admitted inflicting the single stab wound to the chest that led to the death of 20-year-old Mr. Faulkner. The jury at St Albans Crown Court found him guilty on the lesser charge of manslaughter. Judge Michael Baker QC will sentence the youth later this month after reports have been prepared.

I have been to the US three times now, I have yet to visit everywhere I want to go. High on the list of "Cities to see before I die," is Las Vegas.
There is probably nowhere else in the world other than the USA that such a place could exist. It seems like to pinnacle of excess. How can you say, "I have seen America" if you have never gambled in Las Vegas?
I am quite an avid fan of the CSI TV shows. So I can imagine of what it will be like - bright, noisy, brash and warm. The last point is a great selling point to someone sitting in a cold London flat on a winter's afternoon and dreaming of my next holiday rather than working.

Perhaps Barack Obama is 'keeping his enemies closer'
Barack Obama won his historic election because he promised the US people, "Change they can believe in." He promised a change in the way of doing things and a change in the direction of policy. As much as anything else, that is why he won the presidency.
Senator Hillary Clinton represents the old guard. She is a continuation of the political dynasties that have dominated US politics for the last 20 years. As much as anything else, that is why she lost the Democratic primary to the Barack Obama. Write Comment (0 comments) |

European Union's new digital library overwhelmed on opening day
The European Union's digital library, Europeana, opened on Thursday Nov. 20, only to be overwhelmed and crash. Inspired by ancient Alexandria's attempt to collect the world's knowledge, Europeana objective is to bring Europe's cultural heritage out of its museums and libraries and onto the internet.
The European Commission is behind Europeana and provides the annual budget of 2.5 million euros (US$3.15 million). At its launch commission President Jose Manuel Barroso said, "Europeana is much more than a library; it is a veritable dynamo to inspire 21st century Europeans to emulate the creativity of innovative forbears like the drivers of the Renaissance."
